Resurgence of Vedic thoughts and ideas as a future way of Living!

Prophecies and predictions of the future of the World are a highly searched Google term !
Enlightened Indian Spiritual Masters and sages have made and documented their prophecies of the future of the World through extensive Literature penned by them.

Enclosed is one such translation penned as a  short excerpt in May 1956 , by The Divine Sage and Spiritual Scientist - Pandit Shriram Sharma Acharya . This excerpt was first published  in the wonderful  monthly magazine titled , Akhand Jyoti.

The excerpt talks of the re-rise and resurgence of Vedic Indian traditions in coming times  and a rise in an inclination to adopt a Vedic Lifestyle ( spiritually elevated lifestyle) by future generations of the world .

By Vedic life, we mean a life of simplicity and high idealism, a life empowered by knowledge and wisdom, a life where we find joy in giving and sharing and have empathy for all beings around us. A life where we live in balance and harmony with the world around us and also our environment.

Quoted and translated text:

"The sun is set to rise once again on Indian culture and its way of life. As I write, the world is changing and moving towards a new world order. Till now wealth was controlled by a handful of persons, now the time has come when the wealth will transfer and move to the needy and poor.

In the olden days Indian spirituality commanded a lot of recognition and respect, India was known to be the land of gold & riches (‘Soney ki Chidiya’) and its people were veneered to be an exalted race. Men with courage and a spirit of sacrifice were commonly found in most households. With the passage of time the highly evolved and spirited Indian race found itself distanced from its age old ideals and the state of the nation deteriorated.

That time has come again when India and Indian culture will find its age old glory restored. The sun will once again shine on garnering qualities of wisdom, strength and knowledge. Currently, the world over we hear people demanding and struggling for their rights, but I say before we focus on our rights let us also be focused on our duties.
Western thought says that the path to progress lies in raising the society’s standard of living, whereas Eastern and Indian thought places a greater premium on spiritual and emotional advancement as the true sustainable path to mankind’s progress. We can find solutions to all problems of life by adopting once again the old values propagated by our sages and seers.

A nation’s government and politicians can only guarantee and protect the citizen’s rights but as citizens our happiness and sadness cannot be guaranteed or protected by the nation’s governments.
Our state of happiness lies in our control and can be directed and controlled by us through our own individual spiritual & emotional advancement. Indian spirituality (or spirituality in general) has the power to make true human beings out of mankind

Towards this achievement, Indian spirituality gives an important message -That Mankind has been created to spread love and happiness towards its fellow beings and not to engage with each other in endless fights and wars. Let us practice Ahimsa (non violence) and let us find progress not just through material advancement but through our enhanced spiritual and emotional advancement."

How To Maintain Your Mental Balance in Difficult Situations !

This brief and translated passage from Acharya Shriram Sharma's  book " Rishi Chintan Key Sannidhye Mein"  tells us how to maintain  our mental balance and achieve peace of mind in the face of difficult situations.

Translated Excerpt:

"If you feel that your life should always be successful, be without difficulty, hardship or constraints, then this is an  impossibility. It is also outside of your control to achieve such a state.

Instead life should be viewed as a beautiful sweet smelling garden where along with flowers we also find thorns, grim looking and dry stones and difficult looking cliffs and hard rocks. Therefore in life we have to taste both the sweetness and the bitterness that comes our way.

There is no point in fighting against that which we cannot change in our lives. If we cannot change or avoid a particular situation than what is the point of trying to wish for a change in such a situation? As an example what is the point of interacting with and being angry with a person who is by nature predisposed to picking fights, or  is harsh by nature or is predisposed to creating stressful situations.
Don’t dwell on the past, on harmful situations and unsuccessful moments in your life as these thoughts will destabilize your mind and take away your mental peace and strength. It is also purposeless dwelling!

What then is in your control?
What is in your control  is your nature, your good habits, your mental balance,  –all these things are in our control. All these qualities are related to your personal nature and your individual personality. With practice you can achieve all these divine /good qualities and build them into your nature. These qualities when cultivated will give you a peaceful and contended life.

If you want to live happily in this world – focus on the things that are in your control and develop and cultivate those. Do not focus and dwell on or have regrets about what is outside your control. Be the master of your own mind and let what is outside of your control (the world and other people) go their own way."

How to attain peace of mind !

Dear Readers ,

Our lives today are marked by unprecedented levels of mental stress, tension and anxiety. They seem to follow us around everyday . How do we drive this tension and stress away? While we cannot do away with many of the situations and circumstances that envelop us , we can achieve peace and happiness by developing two important qualities ....

Enclosed here is a translated excerpt from the wonderful book -  Rishi Chintan Key Sannidhye Mein which gives us a path and direction on developing these two important qualities that can help us achieve peace of mind !

So let us read this short and translated excerpt :

"We are what we think ! Whatever we think about comes closer to us and begins to form the background tapestry of our lives. Therefore it is wise to think of thoughts that are positive and pure as they are the influencers of who we become in the future.

To refine our thoughts and purify them we need to cultivate two basic qualities -that of kindness and forgiveness. Kind thoughts help purify and refine our mind while thoughts of forgiveness help stabilize the mind. Without developing  these two emotional qualities we cannot truly attain peace of mind.

Good thoughts and good deeds towards others are our greatest possessions. They day we realize the importance of good positive thoughts and the strength & power that lies behind them, that day we will find a lot of answers to many questions and a lot of solutions to many problems.

Good thoughts lead to good deeds and good deeds in turn reinforce our ability to think good thoughts. As we think the atmosphere around us gets impacted by our thinking and after sometime we find our circumstances changing themselves to reflect our thoughts.
Whatever situations and objects we thought about, we find that  those very same things are reflected in our immediate circumstances.

Through thoughts alone we can achieve greatness or nothingness.Thoughts are the strength and force behind good deeds and behavior- the two are always deeply inter related."

Therefore in summary we find that most of the stress in our lives is our  own creation .The way we think drives our behaviour which in turn defines  the circumstances that surround us.
Therefore the best and most lasting way or solution to attain peace of mind is to change the way we think.......thereby changing the circumstances that surround us!

Overcoming the tendency to blame others for our own failure's!

Dear Readers ,

All of us face situations in our lives where we fail or do not meet with the required level of success ! In such a situation how should we react and what should we learn from the situation so that we do not meet  with failure again?

A wonderful Quote from the Book in Hindi - Rishi Chintan Key Sannidhye Mein gives us many good pointers on how to overcome failure.

So let us read this short and wonderful excerpt :

"Many of us tend to blame other people for our own failures, individual weakness's and misfortunes. In situations where we have failed or not met with the required success, we often think of getting even with the other person / or settling a score.
The process of settling a score is an un-ending process, where the one who is harmed will also subsequently  want to settle the score back with you. In this process at an individual level YOU will never benefit, so it’s best not to follow this path.

An individual’s personal success, failure or misfortune is always based on a person’s physical and mental abilities and his own individual strength of character.

When we try to build our success by suppressing another person, spreading bad rumors about them or by simply walking over another person; then this behavior on our part is reflective of our own internal weakness of mind and character (we demonstrate that we are a jealous, angry and an  insecure individual).
The individuals that are engaged in such small acts of vengeance find themselves losing all their strengths and abilities that they have built up over a period of time.
When the fires of jealousy and ill will keep burning inside the person for a long time they kill all the person’s individual bravery, enthusiasm and abilities to overcome difficult situations.

We are each individually responsible for both the good and bad in our life. Let us not blame and malign other people for our individual life situations. Let us take responsibility for our own individual progress, deeds, thoughts and actions.

Additionally, when we are faced with situations that are difficult, adverse and beyond our control we should NOT spend time thinking about them and reflecting upon them over and over again.

If we have inadvertently created a situation which has caused harm, ill will or adversity to ourselves or some other, and now this situation is outside our control, then it is a mistake in ruminating and bereating ourselves continuously over the same.
Once the bow has left the arrow –nothing can really be done. It is best not to think about situations outside our control and be anxious about them.''

Rather we should just focus on analysing what went wrong with the situation and make sure that we learn from our mistakes , so that they do not occur again ...!

How to stop thinking negatively and start thinking positively!

Dear Readers,

Many times in our life we can be confronted with stressful situations that compel us to think negatively, sometimes we can even be thinking negatively in an obsessive and compulsive manner !

What then is the solution to overcoming negative thinking and moving towards a positive an affirmative state  of mind?

The solution is simple and rewarding ! So let us read below a short and simple solution to the problem . This is a translated excerpt from the wonderful Book of Quotes in Hindi titled - Rishi Chintan Key Sannidhye Mein !

Quoted and translated excerpt:

"It is well known that fire when lit first warms the place where it is ignited and thereafter the same spot starts to burn under the heat and intensity of that fire. Likewise acid, when placed in an ordinary vessel first destroys the vessel in which it is placed.

Similarly when we harbor negative thoughts, feelings of jealousy, feelings of ill will towards another, we first harm ourselves. Till such time that these negative thoughts persist and fester in our mind we continue to be harmed

Incidentally, the person towards whom we harbored such negative thoughts and feelings remains relatively un-impacted by the whole process. When we find ourselves to be in conflict with other people, or when there is a difference of opinion with other people, we should try and find a good and effective way of resolving the conflict situation. Harboring ill will and negativity towards our opponent does not help the process of conflict resolution.

Mahatma Gandhi is one example of an  illustrious personality who demonstrated the effective use of this philosophy. He resolved all conflicts with people that opposed him in an amiable manner and did not hold feelings of negativity, or ill will towards his opponents. When faced with a conflict situation we should try and follow his method of conflict resolution- focus on the problem and not the person.

In order to achieve the above; we need to achieve higher levels of empathy and sympathy in our emotional spectrums. We should learn to feel another person’s problem and difficulties as if it were our own.
When misfortune strikes another we should feel the pain of another person’s misfortune as if it was our own. When we reach this level of empathetic feeling and concern for others, the world will be able to maintain peace and harmony in all sorts of conflict situations.

Remember, when feelings of ill will towards another surface in our mind -we should consciously replace the feelings of ill will with feelings of love and affection; replace feelings of selfish gain with universal gain.

In this process not only will our individual lives be transformed but the world will be a better place for all of us to live in."

In summary therfore the most effective  solution of overcoming negative thinking is by consciously  replacing a negative thought with a positive thought, as soon as a negative thought occurs or  comes into the mind.
Do this consciously over a period of time.
Thoughts can be cut ,stopped, replaced and ceckmated by counter thoughts..........

Try this method and let us know  if this worked for you by way of a comment below !

Habits of highly effective people - Pursue excellence at Work!

Dear Readers,

There are so many Books and articles written upon the topic of "what are the few habits of highly successful and effective people". So on this popular topic let us read one more powerful Quotation from the wonderful Book of quotes titled -Rishi Chintan Key sannidhye Mein

Enclosed is an English  translation of a Hindi Quotation from this book that tells us what sets highly effective people apart from the others that are not so successful !

So let us read....the Quoted and translated excerpt below:

Pursue Excellence in all tasks that you do !   Make Excellence a HABIT!

"We should approach each job entrusted to us  in a way that maximizes the use of our abilities and delivers the best possible output that we can deliver. Therefore pursue excellence as a habit.

When we deliver mediocre outputs not only do we cheat our employers of a job well done but above all we cheat ourselves. Our employer is not harmed as much by our mediocrity as we  are. While the employer  loss can be capped at a  couple of hundred bucks the loss to the employee cannot be measured.

When we do each task assigned to us  with less than 100% of   our interest, ability and commitment we enter a level of low state of personal capability, ability, and execution. Over a period of time this can be habit forming ,laziness overcomes us and we are happy at delivering mediocrity”.

The aim and purpose of Life - Realizing our full potential as human beings and living meaningfully!

Dear Readers,

Have you ever wondered about questions like - " What is the aim of my life ?" or wondered about " How do I  live a meaningful and purposeful life and go from being ordinary to becoming extraordinary?

The following quote from the wonderful Book in Hindi  "Rishi Chintan Key Sannidhey Mein" helps to clarify the purpose and aim of  life.

The Quote indicates to us : that in the moments of final analysis it is not material progress that is a measure of success of our lives , rather  we  will  always be measured and remembered by the nobler legacy of living life beyond the material....!

Quoted Excerpt:

“The human body and human life is a priceless gift from God. This life has been given to us for purposeful and meaningful living. Yet most of us spend all our lives chasing and obsessing only over our physical (bodily) needs and wants. Our needs and wants are endless, they multiply everyday and we spend our entire life endlessly pursuing a moving target.

How about if we live our life  more purposefully and in the bargain also earn divine blessings and love ? How about if we spend our time not just looking after our physical needs , but also spend time in refining our intellect, in molding our character ,purifying our thoughts, getting rid of negativity, ill will , jealousy, laziness and all other traits that our roadblocks in realizing our potential as great human beings.

The aim of our life is  to rise over the emotion that binds us to only meet the needs and wants of our immediate family and instead we should spend a portion of our resources and income in meeting the needs of people in society that are struggling and have been left behind. The aim of our life should be to build our individual moral character that is based on exemplary thoughts, good deeds and a life led by example- A life that is remembered with reverence by others in times to come.

Those that spend their lives in achieving this noble aim achieve greatness and are favored by divine blessings and love. Ordinary people become extraordinary and achieve greatness in all walks of life.

You can also achieve the full meaning and purpose of your life by incorporating the following 6 point program in your daily life:

1. Reduce your needs and limit your wants.

2. Treat all material possessions that you have been blessed with as those belonging to God- think of yourself as just being a trustee of these possessions in this life.

3.Meet the current difficult situations in your life with fortitude and find solutions to problems intelligently using more reason and less emotion.
Those problems that cannot be resolved or are outside of your control should be faced with forbearance and mental strength. Consider these problems to be aggregates of past deeds and actions (of which you have no control now) and thus face the problems with courage and bravery and without anxiety.

4. Engage in a higher purpose of living daily. You can do so by reading good literature, reading and listening to devotional hymns , chanting Gods name, practicing meditation, reading inspiring religious stories and texts. This is habit forming and engages the mind in Gods work and purpose – which is thinking good and doing good.

5.Make persistent and consistent efforts to reduce thoughts of jealousy, ill will, insecurity and anxiety. Whenever a bad or negative thought arises, consciously replace it with a good and positive thought. Make an effort at reducing bad character and personality traits and focus on reducing actions and deeds that could harm others.

6.Make a daily habit of contributing towards society by making a habit of helping someone in need . Think of it as GOD's work.”
